OmniConnect LLC ("we," "our," "us") built KinConnect on a founding principle: your family's data belongs to your family. OmniConnect LLC does not operate proprietary servers that store your personal information and is not designed to provide us with access to your content. This Privacy Policy explains what data types the app processes, where that data resides, and your rights as a user.
KinConnect processes the following categories of data solely to provide you with app functionality. This data is stored securely within Apple's CloudKit infrastructure and is not collected or retained on any server operated by OmniConnect LLC:
CoreMotion recent activity/step history locally on that device (along with active foreground app opens while Up & About is enabled, excluding unattended Frame Mode) to publish a single latest-activity timestamp for that device installation to your authorized family spaces via Apple's CloudKit. While at least one of your devices has Up & About enabled, your displayed Up & About status reflects the most recent eligible timestamp across your enabled device(s) and your eligible KinConnect in-app activity. If you also grant optional "Always" location permission on that device, Apple's operating system may briefly wake the app on significant location changes (including before four hours have elapsed, where KinConnect's local cooldown gate skips unnecessary recovery checks until at least four hours have passed since the last successful check or an update is still waiting to reach iCloud) solely to run that same on-device CoreMotion check. Geographic coordinates, route history, step counts, and raw sensor samples are never uploaded to CloudKit or shared with family members. You may turn Up & About off on a device at any time, which immediately stops motion checks and background location wakes on that device and clears that device's shared activity timestamp across your family spaces (retaining a timestamp-free disabled revision marker to reject out-of-order updates); if Up & About remains enabled on another of your devices, that other device's shared status remains visible to your family and on your own view until turned off there. If you decline or revoke location access, regular Up & About motion checks continue to work without the background catch-up backup.FoundationModels), Apple Vision optical character recognition (OCR) for scanning recipe cards, and Apple's Speech framework (configured for on-device recognition where supported) for voice-to-text dictation and accessible voice-note captions. All such AI prompt personalization, family digest generation, recipe scanning, and voice transcription occur locally on your device; your family's photos, voice recordings, recipes, and text are never transmitted to OmniConnect LLC or third-party AI servers and are never used to train any artificial intelligence model.SensitiveContentAnalysis and DeclaredAgeRange frameworks to perform local pre-post sensitivity checks on media and apply age-appropriate safety defaults. All media analysis and age-signal checks run 100% locally on your device; no image, video, or age signal is ever transmitted to OmniConnect LLC.KinConnect does not use any of the above data for tracking, advertising, or behavioral profiling.
KinConnect uses our client-side encryption architecture ("OmniLock"), built on Apple CryptoKit (including AES-256-GCM, Curve25519 key agreement, HKDF, and SHA-256), designed to encrypt your family's shared content and media on your device before it is uploaded to Apple's CloudKit infrastructure. Device private keys are stored in the iOS hardware-backed Keychain on each authorized device, while content encryption keys are wrapped in per-member and per-circle encrypted envelopes stored within Apple's CloudKit so authorized family and circle members can decrypt content and recover access across their devices. To coordinate real-time push notifications and unread badges across shared zones without an OmniConnect server, the app writes minimal, ephemeral non-content notification signal and acknowledgment records to CloudKit containing pseudonymous routing identifiers and encrypted sender labels (never plaintext message bodies or media), which are processed on-device by the iOS Notification Service Extension.
This "zero-knowledge" and "closed-loop" architecture is designed so that OmniConnect LLC holds no master decryption keys and does not have the technical ability to access, read, or decrypt your family's encrypted content. Certain app features also cache data locally on your device within Apple's app sandbox and Keychain for offline access and performance, and index authorized family items (such as memories, calendar events, recipes, and member names) into your device's local iOS CoreSpotlight search index and AppIntents (Siri / Shortcuts) framework so you can search and access your family content on your device; such local caching and indexing occur entirely on-device and are never transmitted to any server operated by OmniConnect LLC. However, no method of electronic storage, transmission, or cryptography is 100% impenetrable: OmniConnect LLC cannot guarantee absolute security if your physical device, passcode, Apple ID, or iCloud account is compromised, nor can encryption prevent an invited family or circle member who is authorized to view content from taking screenshots, recording, exporting, or re-sharing that content outside the app.
KinConnect is built without third-party analytics SDKs, advertising frameworks, or behavioral tracking tools. We do not:
Biometric authentication (such as Face ID or Touch ID) is handled entirely by your device's operating system and is never accessed, transmitted, or stored by OmniConnect LLC.
KinConnect relies on Apple Inc. infrastructure—including Apple's CloudKit, iCloud, Apple Push Notification service (APNs), and Apple WeatherKit—for data storage, synchronization, notifications, and local weather display. Your use of these Apple services is governed by Apple's own Privacy Policy and Terms of Service. In addition, when you share or view an external web link within KinConnect, your device connects directly to that third-party website to retrieve link preview metadata (such as a page title or thumbnail image), which exposes standard web request data (such as your IP address) directly to that third-party website under its own privacy practices. OmniConnect LLC is not responsible for the privacy practices, security measures, or data handling of Apple Inc. or any third-party website, platform, or service provider.
KinConnect is a private, invitation-only family application and is not directed at children under the age of 13 acting independently. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13 without verifiable parental consent. Minor family members may participate only through: (a) an adult-managed display profile created and controlled exclusively by a verified adult parent or legal guardian administrator, or (b) a minor's Apple ID authorized and invited into a family space directly by the child's parent or legal guardian (such as through Apple Family Sharing). By creating a child profile or inviting a minor into a family space, the adult administrator represents and warrants that they are the child's parent or legal guardian (or have obtained verifiable parental consent), provides consent for the processing of the minor's information within the family vault, and assumes full responsibility for supervising the minor's use of the app. A parent, legal guardian, or family administrator may review, modify, or delete a child's profile or shared content at any time through the app or by contacting us.
Ephemeral chat messages within KinConnect are designed to auto-delete approximately three (3) hours after being read or approximately seven (7) days if unread. Because synchronization occurs across user devices via Apple's CloudKit, auto-deletion operates on a best-effort basis when participating devices are online and connected, and cannot prevent another authorized family member from saving, photographing, or screenshotting content prior to expiration. In CloudKit, Presence Halo overwrites a single current-status record per family membership and optional Up & About (formerly Wellness Indicator) overwrites a single current-status record per device installation and family membership rather than accumulating a shared timeline of past visits or movements (while the app maintains bounded local sync and diagnostic state on your device). Turning Presence Halo off on a device deletes your current shared Halo record (unless another signed-in device with Presence Halo still enabled later publishes a new visit), and turning Up & About off on a device clears that device's shared activity timestamp across your family spaces while retaining a timestamp-free disabled revision marker so older updates cannot reappear. Content that you explicitly choose to post or preserve (including Time Capsules scheduled for future unlock dates) is retained within Apple's CloudKit until you or a family administrator removes it. You may delete your content, remove family spaces, or delete your account and associated data at any time through the app's settings. Upon account deletion, the app initiates removal of your data from CloudKit and connected devices in accordance with Apple's standard data deletion processes.
Depending on your jurisdiction (including under the Texas Data Privacy and Security Act, the California Consumer Privacy Act, and similar state or international laws), you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, to restrict or object to certain processing activities, to opt out of data sales or targeted advertising (which KinConnect never engages in), and not to be discriminated against for exercising your privacy rights. Because your data resides encrypted within Apple's CloudKit infrastructure — not on servers operated by OmniConnect LLC, and because OmniConnect LLC holds no decryption keys — we cannot independently view, decrypt, export, or modify your encrypted family content on your behalf; you must manage your data directly through the app on an authorized device. We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for legal, regulatory, or operational reasons. We will notify users of material changes via in-app notification or other reasonable means. Your continued use of KinConnect after such notification constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
